Flagpoling - no more

Thankfully for this forum, as a way of double checking we have just avoided taking my stepson over the border to "land" and return to Canada, at a cost of several hundrend dollars in gas money, days of work etc.
For any one already in Canada on a visitors visa, that is waiting for PR via UK, you no longer have to go "around the flag pole" to land. As long as you are under the skilled worker or family class. There is a bit about it on wiki here, however if you look on both the CIC website, and the web in general there is very little to confirm this, unless you know where to look. (So use the search feature here, and like me you may find info to your advantage.)
We sponsored my step son in October 2008, ( he was on the original application and had first medicals done previously) He was here on holiday when we sent the papers to London. He received his approval on 23rd December. Passport requests in January, and we received the passports and visa back last Friday. Today we drove him to Victoria, where he was welcomed asked a few questions then he "landed" without leaving Canada. Soooooooo easy.
So before you leave the country, if you dont want to , read the bottom of the letter they send back with your passports, and phone for the nearest office to "land"
I now have one very happy step son, who cant wait to work......and my family is complete.
