Question Finger print for immigration- any idea?

Hi all

I just received an email from the CC in Buffalo requesting a finger print forwarded to RCMP, as follows. The problem is that I'm currently living in the US, so can I do that here? And how? Has anyone been through this process before? How long does it take?

Police Certificates From CANADA:

A fingerprint check is required for you, please follow the instructions below and send to the Canadian Consulate in Buffalo when you receive the assessed prints.

The Buffalo RPC does not accept RCMP police certificates based on a name check. The RCMP record check that we require must be based on a FINGERPRINT check.

Applicants appearing for fingerprinting will need to bring photo identification.

A fee is normally charged for the fingerprinting service. Fees may vary.

Have your fingerprints taken by your local RCMP detachment or local police service.

For additional instructions, you may wish to contact the RCMP at (613) 998-6362 or on the internet at

http://www.rcmp-grc.gc.ca/cr-cj/fing-empr-eng.htm

IMPORTANT: ENSURE THAT YOUR IMMIGRATION FILE NUMBER AND OUR OFFICE ADDRESS APPEARS ON YOUR FINGERPRINT FORM.

******Fingerprints must be forwarded to the RCMP for assessment.

1. The processing time for paper prints is about 120 days.
2. If you are close to the border you might want to go to one of the digital providers in Canada. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resourc...2009/ob116.asp Results in about 72 hours.
