Federal Skills Worker

Hey There,

I was wondering if a few people might be able to help me out with a few questions.

I'm coming to Canada at the beginning of November an IEC visa and have researching my options for how to stay afterwards and have a few questions that I'm a bit unsure of.

A bit of background...... I will be 31 in November when I arrive so unfortunately will not have the option of trying to get a 2nd year on my IEC.

I work in Marketing but plan on taking a sabbatical from the career for 6 months when I first arrive. I have 6 years experience in marketing and a postgraduate diploma specialising in Digital/Online.

My job role is on the FSW list - Professional occupations in advertising, marketing and public relations (1123) and I am in the skills type A of the NOC. My Concern if I go down the LMO rote is that I wont be able to find a job with LMO.

I believe my only 2 options available are FSW and LMO, is that right?

With the FSW:
Can I apply for this when I'm in Canada? I'm looking to do this under express entry in January.
Can I apply for this without a job offer?
If accepted will this give me PR status or just extend my visa?
If I am already living and settled in Canada do I still need to show the proof of funds?

Thanks in advance.

Possibly, is there any reason you don't think you could apply under the PNP of the province you're in, or even CEC?

Yes, if you're eligible. You're aware though that 'the list' is only in place until January and then it's a whole new system so your occupation may no longer be eligible? No way of knowing what will happen after Jan, so if you're eligible now you might just want to apply now if you can get an application together before the quota is met.

Yes, if your job is on 'the list', then no job offer is needed. Again, we don't know whether that will still be the case after January though.

PR.

Probably, but again it depends on how you apply and which visa route.

HTH a bit.

Thank you, that does help, I had thought about PNP but didn't think I would be eligible for CEC, ill look into both of them further, great to know there's a few options open to me.

I was planning on waiting until I was there before looking to apply for another visa, I went for the IEC as a trial to see if I want to settle there before fully committing.

If I applied for the FSW beforehand would that invalidate my IEC visa?
Would I have to get a job within that category or would I be able to do any job while I looked for one in marketing with the FSW?
