fastest + slowest courier service
Hi all,
After contacting FedEx an dhl for price quotes and delivery timescales, I was surprised to find out the minimum time they take to deliver 'the package' is 1week??
I would have thought / expected a more efficient service...
Is this the norm? If it is I think I've discovered a gap in the market!

Re: fastest + slowest courier service
So why do they all advertise overnight delivery or 2 - 3 days?
Fastest in my opinion would be UPS/Fedex
Slowest Canada Post
All others no experience but whenever delayed they always blame Customs

ups should be good for 3days, ours was less than a week I'm sure.
Things do slow down when it reaches canada.

Perhaps the size of the country (Canada) has also something to do with the system slowing down. Its amazing how much air mail is carried on a semi along the Trans Canada highway

Thats true, if you use tracked mail it seems to reach vancouver very quickly and then takes about 1week to reach somewhere like calgary when i send standard mail from the UK.

Pretty sure ours was about 3 or 4 days. I can check that on Facebook as I was tracking it.
I used Fedex, but went through one of those online comparison type sites. Fedex wanted £80, I only paid £25 for the same service. And it WAS a Fedex van that picked it up.
OK, just did a quick search and found Parcel2go.com
Filled in the parcel details, price was £22.20 (possibly plus vat) and that was a 1 to 5 working day service. But as I said, ours took around three days.
They do a 1 - 3 day service too, didn't price that one

Both FedEx and UP can deliver next day. You just need to pay for the service if you want it.

CAVEAT;
Any courier service promising guaranteed next day or even 2 to 3 day delivery have very very small print saying cannot be responsible for delays when clearing Customs if shipped country to country.

I would often get same day international service for a very reasonable rate and little delay at customs.
