I'm sure someone will be along to clarify, but I BELIEVE that if your son has a Canadian parent, he doesn't need PR. Search the forums for this situation, there is a procedure for getting him a Canadian passport I think.

Thanks for the tip, just got our pics done today at Snappy Snaps I gave the guy the specs and he said no problem click click all done

Now Iv got my fingers crossed as I really dont want them to be sent back as I have read a few posts of people being asked for new photos, I really hope the same thing does not happen to us.

For anyone else who wants to know, Snappy Snaps charge £9.99 for six photos ( well £19.99 really as we need eight photos so you will have to get two sets)
Will keep you all updated on our progress
Just a thought.........I used 13 or 14 (or was it 15?) in total......so I suspect you will need some more

Steve

Correct - if one of the parents is Canadian (by birth) then siblings are Canadian citizens by descent. We applied for our children's Canadian Citizenship documents as soon as they were born as they took about 9 months from memory. There is another thread here (quite recent) as I think you'll have to either have this information for your son or a canadian passport for them before the application is submitted.

Hi all,
Just thought I would post a quick update, following the information on getting my sons canadian validity passport and citizenship cert we made a trip to Canada House in Trafalgar Sq today (we live a short walk away)

This was mainly to see if I could get anymore advice also the forms, got there and explained my situation to the guy at the reception desk and he directed me upstairs to see a rep. (which I was quite shocked at as from reading threads on here it seems like these people are hermits!!)

Took a ticket and waited less than 5mins to see someone, explained my situation and she gave me the correct forms and answered all my questions

Just thought I would share that with everyone I hope it helps.

I have just signed up to the forum but have been reading posts for the last week and have found them really helpful so I thought I would post a thread with just a few questions.

I will give a little bit of my background, I am British and my husband is a Canadian citizen who has been living in the UK for nine years.
We just got back from Canada last week and have decided that now is the time to make the big move over there. (We have been planning to move for over four years!!)

As my husband is still a Canadian citizen he will be sponsoring me and our 17 month old son through the family class sponsorship.
Your son is a Canadian citizen by descent it seems BUT you need to be aware (as he does when he's older) that if he has children born outside Canada, they won't get Canadian citizenship automatically from him.

Has your husband thought of becoming a British citizen before he leaves the UK?
