Default Failing to renew visa in time

To make a long story short... this post is for my sister. She is here on a work visa and applied for PR (via the Canadian Economic Class). Her work visa runs out the end of June 2011 but they failed to notice that their youngest daughter's visa actually ran out in March this year because her passport expired then. They have since applied to renew the work visa for the daughter pending the finalization of PR application but have not received the renewal yet. They have applied for temporary status visas pending the outcome of PR application. The PR application should be dealt with very soon as they have already had medicals. They are now concerned that the fact the daughter's visa ran out before PR is granted may cause problems with immigration when they land as permanent residents. Anyone have any knowledge about this kind of situation? Is there anything we can do to rectify this oversight?? They don't want to jeopardize their PR application over something that was a silly mistake.
