Extending a closed work permit when applying for PR
SO a quick background. I applied for provincial nomination in 2017 and was approved in August 2017. At that time I was given my documents and asked to apply for a new two year visa. The visa was was approved in November 2017 and my PR application was sent out in February 2018. It's now April 2019 and I've been informed that my target completion date is October 2019 but that's cutting itself very close to the end of my current work permit. Is is there a way I can go about extending my current visa to cover any potential gap? |

You may be eligible for a Bridging Open Work Permit, but not all PNP applicants are. Have a read of this and see if you'd qualify

i don't think I am. My work permit is a closed work permit and from what I can tell restricted work permits are not eligible for bridging visas. But your work permit being a closed one has no bearing on it, most people that apply for BOWP's have an employer specific work permit. The only thing that may be relevant is if your PNP nomination has employer restrictions on it. |

My work permit is tied to my employer. |
