Re: Express Entry Visa
I know quite a lot about getting teaching jobs in BC, as we have teachers in the family, and we have also lived here for over 50 years and pay close attention to what is going on around us.!
One relation took almost 17 years from graduation with a degree and then a diploma in teaching from UBC to get a permanent job ......... 3 years of that were spent outside the country, so it was 14 years on the TOC list. Now they are back on the TOC list as there was a reorganisation of teachers in the small district, and relation was low man on the totem pole (ie, last hired first one fired because of the union). As it turns out, relation could probably work almost every day as a substitute teacher, if they so decided.
There is a shortage of SOME teachers in BC, but the shortage is in very specific areas ........ eg, French (must be fluent), special needs, or in remote areas.
True story from almost 50 years ago, and under very different entry requirements ......
......... another relation was a teacher in England, decided to emigrate here, went to Canada House in London and was told "No problem, lots of jobs in BC". So made all the arrangements, arrived in Vancouver, went to the BCTF offices 2 days after arriving, and was told "If we knew you were coming, we'd have told you not to bother. No jobs".
As it turned out, relation was lucky, was only out of work for a short time before a principal was left in the lurch in a very small Interior town, and was willing to take anyone who could teach on the principle that they would soon learn another subject!!
The discrepancy between what is said and what really is the case is not new!
But with a Masters degree, you have a better chance of getting Express Entry than trying to apply for a teaching job.

Re: Express Entry Visa
The points system is there for a reason. If you're scoring 484 points, that means you're likely to get an ITA and so will be able to immigrate to Canada. Once you have your permanent residency status you are able to work (or not) in whatever capacity you choose. You will have pretty much the same rights as a Canadian born in Canada, apart from the right to vote (I think). The people who think the system is flawed or unfair seem generally to be the ones who don't meet the criteria.
