Express Entry Scores and Progress Thread

Re: Express Entry Scores and Progress Thread
Congrats sms.
Even the quicker EE is still such a long winded process, so much time, effort and research undergone by everyone involved, so really pleased to hear you're about to cross the finishing line.
The satisfaction of entering Canada as a PR, knowing that I don't have to worry about anything for a while, is exactly the motivation that keeps me going, so I can only imagine how excited you must be.
Congratulations!

This may sound like a silly question but once we have PR that's it right? We do intend to get married but if he stays on PR then eventually gets citizenship etc. we won't need to apply for a spousal visa? After my own UK visas and all of this EE stuff I'm crossing my fingers we'll be done with immigration processes for a while!!

We officially just landed as permanent residents of Canada after a two day break in Vegas The whole process took about 15 minutes and went smoothly. Can't believe we have come to the end of our PR journey but SO pleased that we have! Good luck to everyone else patiently waiting

Re: Express Entry Scores and Progress Thread
Tomorrow will be 3 months since Acknowledgement of Receipt (same day as Application) and 2 months since they asked me to upload CELPIP (which I did within minutes...).
Not a thing since...
It's 16 weeks until my TFW Work Permit expires (it was a 2 year one).
When should (can) I apply for an extension? Does my Employer instigate this or do I?

Re: Express Entry Scores and Progress Thread
I was just checking the requirements for the skilled worker application and the medical section had this bit where they would deny entry if I "would cause too much demand on health or social services in Canada."
Now, I have severe arthritis and need a hip replacement at the fun age of 28. Would that deny me entry? Apart from my hip, I'm fit and healthy.
Actually, I'm sure I've asked this before, so sorry for asking again, but as a programmer looking to immigrate, do I need to complete a medical check? I've never worked in anything health related and I stay in the UK.

As for the medical demand, the figure that CIC put on that is just over $6000 a year, so if they think you'll cost the Canadian healthcare system more than that a year, you'd be refused. How much severe arthritis is likely to cost, I've no idea, but it's something to look in to.
Good luck.

Thanks for the reply. I won't lie, that has got me a little anxious. My hip has taken a lot away from me and I don't want it to take this away as well.
Are you able to appeal decisions?

Re: Express Entry Scores and Progress Thread
Applied to express entry in April with 400+ points and since then my birthday has dropped me just under 400! (397) :-( so disappointed and it seems from the discussions that future draws are unlikely to go as low as my score! Been trying to look for ways to bring points back up a bit (i.e. Updating all work experience and education as possible). I've got top marks in language test, an IT degree and work experience of 10 years+. Not sure there's anything else to do but wait!
Good luck to everyone out there waiting to hear! x
