My parents have been granted visitor visas which I understand is valid till June
30, 2002. They are expected to arrive on April 6, 2002 and would be leaving on
August 3, 2002.
Will the expiry of visa, before their return, create a problem?
TIA.

Hi:
Generally, you parents will be permitted to remain in Canada for 6 months, unless
otherwise specified at the port of entry. But, as immigration officiers have wide
discretion at the port of entry, do not be surprised if your parent's entry is
limited to the expiration date of their visas. Once in Canada, your parents could
always apply for a visitor visa extension.

Visa validity allows the visitor the window of opportunity to enter = Canada. This is
usually based roughly around the date they said they = would like to be in Canada by
when they made their application.
The visitor permit or permission to enter and visit Canada is given at = the port of
entry. This is usually given for six months and depends = more on what the officer at
the border determines is an appropriate = length of time and not on what the validity
of the visa is.
