Default experience applying for / getting citizenship - citizenship time - in Ottawa? 12 months?!

Any experience with applying for / getting citizenship
in Ottawa area?

I visited the CIC office (Catherine str. 200) today
(they work Mon-Fri 10-13 ).

A clerk there told me:
"I don't have access to citizenship computer system here,
but I got this question frequently and talk to immigration officers"
"citizenship times (test waiting times?) in Ottawa are more than 12
months now"

Hell! I do know that lots of people- recent immigrants came
to Ottawa around 1999-2000 during high-tech boom
(I moved from Toronto area to Ottawa in the end of 2000 for a new job,
and know that even to find an apartment to rent wasn't that easy).
Do these bureaucrats from CIC get their salaries just for showing up?
Didn't they have to note the increase of number of immigrants in Ottawa and
adjust accordingly?

I applied for citizenship in Dec 2002, got acknowledgment letter quickly.
I was calling the CIC from time to time to know about status
(hint: to get through call Vancouver office after 4 p.m. Eastern,
when Ontarians generally don't call )
and know that all "verifications" were completed for me
about mid-March or earlier - e.g. I'm in the line for test since about that time.

Anybody got citizenship in Ottawa recently?
Experts - do you know what the test waiting time is now in Ottawa?

Thanks in advance

You were told 12 months, weren't you? Then it'll take about 12 months.
If it's faster than that, great. You've waited 3 years or so, you can wait a
little longer.

Good luck
