Default Evidence of funds during landing process - please help with advice

Hi,
I am going to go thru the landing process in two weeks.
My question is whether it will be O.k to bring 3-4k CAD in cash.
And to show the conformation from Bank that I have enough funds to
settle in Canada.
I am asking because I dont want to come with to much money in cash and
bringing a check from bank is not comfortable because it may take up
to a month till such a check will be cashed in.
So I think the best way is to come to Canada to open a bank acount and
to wire money in to it.

I would be landing in Canada in a week as well. I wouldn't be comfortable
carrying more than $500 in cash. Would a most recent bank statement from an
American bank be sufficient to show required funds to settle in Canada? If
not, what are other possible ways to show(transfer) my funds? I don't think
I have enough time to open a Canadian bank account and transfer my funds. I
will appreciate any response.

I don't think carrying too little cash is a good idea. Banks in Canada
don't take 1 day to clear foreign wire transfers as banks in many
parts of the world.

It can take up to 10 business days before you have access to the funds.
I've heard of one case where it took longer.

I forgot to say that a recent bank statement is fine. Also get a
printout from the ATM the day you leave confirming that the
funds are still in the bank account

When I arrived from the US, I told them I had this in my bag
and they were satisfied.

i landed couple of weeks ago in toronto, i brought less 1k in cash and
a fax from my bank showing my balance. i handed the fax to the
immigration officer when he asked me how much money i have with me.
the landing process is so straightforward, no surprises.
