Default Enough CRS points??

Hi All. My husband, me and our 3 kids are currently living in Ontario on my husband's work visa. We have 450 CRS points for Express Entry Application. My husband is the applicant. Due to Covid I do not have an Educational assessment or an English Test. We want to apply asap. Should I do my English test? Do we need more points? Thanks

Hi, welcome to BE.

You do need more points IMO, yes.

The points may suddenly drop back down of course, but with over 25,000 people currently in the pool scoring more than 450, I doubt it tbh. So I’d definitely recommend you take IELTS and get an ECA.

HTH, good luck.

Thanks for the information. Do you happen to know anything about the OINP?

What are my husband's chances of being picked out of the pool under this category with 450 (or even 470, assuming I pass the IELTS)
He's been at a senior level in a large multinational company for nearly 4 years. We've already had work visas renewed once.

It depends on his job. Unlike a 'normal' EE application, OINP invites aren't just based on points, they are generally occupation based or French language based. You can see details of all previous draws here - https://www.ontario.ca/page/oinp-exp...tions-interest

If you get your IELTS, that should give you enough points for an ITA under EE (last CEC draw was at 454). When will your husband lose points due to his age, will he have a birthday anytime soon that impacts his score?

Hi, We are both older applicants already, so minimum points in that category. He is a Senior Commercial Director. We already own our own home here in Ontario. He would really like to know whether it is worth applying for OINP (extra cost I believe?) or just sticking with EE.
Thanks in advance!

There's no extra cost, as long as he's ticked Ontario in his EE app, then they will consider him. His chance will depend on if his NOC code/job would have been selected in the PNP draws, I gave you the link above which details which occupations they're targeting under various draws.

Only if he's selected and invited to apply under the PNP would there be an extra fee to pay.

HTH.
