Default Dual Intent

With my outland PR now in process (waiting for approval from London) I will be heading to Canada again in a few weeks. I am planning to stay for 6 months with my wife. I just wanted to know if anyone has recently entered Canada stating dual intent to the Border Official.

On my declaration card I will be putting 180 days as the amount of time I will be there. I will have my insurance docs, return flight, pr docs and proof of funds in case but I am just wondering what do I have to actually say for example..

Border Official. What is the purpose of your visit?
Me. I have a PR application in process, I am entering under dual intent.

Any feedback is appreciated.

I would say Im married to a Canadian and we have a spousal sponsorship submitted. Im wondering what the possibilities are of getting a visitor record for 12 months if you want to stay that long. If only planning on spending 6 months then just say Im visiting my wife who is a Canadian and waiting for spousal sponsorship to come through.

Are there any risks of asking for the 12 months, as obviously they can refuse, if they do, am I likely to be given a max of 6 months instead do you think?

I have the return flight booked for March but I could extend my stay to 12 months without any problem.

If you don't ask you won't get. You could be refused if inadmissible (criminal, no money etc etc) regardless of how long you intend to stay for. I highly doubt you would be refused if married to a Canadian with an application in process.
