Default Do we need a valid work permit to land?

We received PPR this week, passports are now in London. We also applied for a new LMO 5 weeks ago, current one runs out 30th March along with our TWP.

Our immigration consultant emailed yesterday to say HRDSC wanted a copy of our current TWP and T4 - no problem there. He also asked us in the same email if we wanted to carry on with the LMO application. We thought save $300 on new TWP and said no cancel it. He emailed back to say we needed a valid work permit to land! - not sure why he asked us if we wanted to cancel but hey ho.

So question is do we need a current TWP to land.? If the passports arent back by 30th March for us to land, what will our status be, on 31st March without a TWP?

From what I remember your PR replaces your WP, that will be your valid entry into Canada. So I think the answer is no you do not need one to "Land", but you need one to work in Canada until your passports arrive back.

So yes you still need the LMO and WP just in case something (god forbid) goes wrong, error on Visa, passports go missing etc.....

Thanks for your reply. So best to carry on with LMO, if passports come back before 30th no need to get TWP = $300 for me to spend at the Mall
