Default Do I need a new Irish police certificate?

I lived in Ireland a few years back and as part of getting ready for immigrating to Canada, I got an Irish police certificate last year.

I haven't been back there since (not even on holiday) and I intend to apply for PR on either my permanent LMO or PNP (whichever I get first lol), so do I need a new Irish police cert? - I know I will need a new UK one.

The requirement is for any country you have lived in for more than 6 months, and the police certificate can't be more than 3 months old.

I know

I was just hoping that if I had a police cert from there and I hadn't been in the country since the cert was issued that I wouldn't need another. It's not like it could have changed, seeing as I haven't been there.

Bit silly, but rules are rules I know.

How do CIC know you haven't been in the country since it was issued?

Because you supplied them with a police certificate and stated you had lived there for over 6 months If you hadn't lived there then you wouldn't have supplied one. Did you submit one from Syria and if not why?

Hi, I have some concerns about the police checks also! I noticed you have to submit police checks from all the countries you have lived in since you were 18. So for me that would include a year in Switzerland 14 years ago?! What I need to know is what do i provide in order to get one from Switzerland? I worked there as a nanny with a family and didn't have SS no or NI no!
Also Ive been told it can take up to 6 months to get police check done from the US, which could hold everything up!! Is this true??

to BE.

You have to submit police checks from any country you have lived in for more than 6 months, excluding Canada. So if you were in Switzerland 14 years ago for 1 year, then yes, you have to provide a police check.

There's no real flexibility around this requirement. If you lived there for more than 6 months, you get a police check no ifs, ands, or buts, doesn't matter how long the certificate takes to arrive, you have to have it.

You can find lots of threads about what people have said about getting FBI checks from the US. I have also read that they do take longer, but not sure if it's 6 months or not.

I'd imagine Googling "Switzerland police check" should set you in the right area for how to go about getting one. I also thing CIC has links on their website to where to order police checks for various countries. Yes - a quick google - I found this. How to get a police certificate (police check)

Actually FBI certificates take about 4-6 weeks these days.
