Determining Citizenship Eligibility

Hello,
I am a Canadian citizen. My wife arrived in Canada in March '96 as a landed immigrant
following several years of visitor visas. She recently returned to her country for
approx. two months with our 3 young children. She was previously absent from Feb 21.
'98 to June 12 '98 due to my work assignment abroad. I understand that the
citizenship act does not require 1095 days of physical residence. My questions are:
What is the earliest date that she could apply for citizenship? I am currently
working in the US on a TN Visa - will this impact the application?
Thanks in advance.

Your wife should accumulate 1,095 days of residence in Canada within 4 years period
preceding citizenship application. So, even with her absence in '98 of about 110 days
and most recent absence of approx. 2 months she accumulated about 1,290 days of
residence between May '97 and now (last 4 years). She can apply now, but she must be
in Canada to do so.
