She's still a PR and remains one until an official process happens regardless of whether she has or can meet the residency obligation.

The question is what's going to happen when she applies to renew her card or it expires when outside Canada and she wants to return. If she has fewer than 730 days in Canada in her 5 year period or in the previous 5 years on the date she applies to renew (if more than 5 years have passed since landing) there's going to be an issue.

You've been advised to see someone. Unless you feel confident that you know the law, I'd consider doing that and in good time: not at the last minute.

Thank you both for the advice, fully aware of the situation and will go through the same process in summer when she comes over once again...we will see what happens when she returns.

There is no flag at immigration to alarm authorities someone has not met residency. If PR documents are valid, admission is quite possible, admission is not an assurance that PR obligations have been met and all is well.
