DEEMED CRIMINAL REHABILITATION

A friend currently wants to obtain an ETA and in the future may apply for PR.

He is 28 years old and is of good character apart from receiving a "Police Warning" for theft when he was aged 15.

His police form shows "No Live Trace" but he has done a subject access check and it says he was arrested and charged with several counts of theft for which it says he received a "Warning"

He assumes he is now "rehabilitated" but he wants to know if by applying for and getting an ETA it has the effect of deeming him rehabilitated in CICs eyes and he would be OK to apply for PR in the future?

Also is a " Police Warning" different to a "Police Caution"

Read this ling regarding deemed rehabilitation
https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration...ilitation.html

If he only has arrests or warnings as a 15 yr old then I wouldn't lose sleep over it as the Young Offenders Act is taken into consideration unless convicted under adult provisions and sentenced as an adult even though less than 18 yrs of age.

That's reassuring!

Would he still need to apply for some sort of rehabilitation as part of or desperately to his ETA application?

No.
