CSQ application processing time
 

Hi All,

I have been living in UK for past 2 years. I applied application for CSQ to Paris Quebec immigration office on Jan 8 and received my acknowledgement letter and payment receipt for my application on March 2. They mentioned that my application is being reviewed and they will let me know the status of the application.

I just would like to know when they will call me for an interview and normally how long will they take to make a decision.

If someone knows, kindly help me.

For me it took 6 months to be called for an interview, but that was a couple of years back.

Normally they give you the decision the same day. At the end of the interview, they might ask you to walk about for a couple of hours then come back for your CSQ if you pass or send you away straight away if you fail.

Could you please share the questions you have been asked during an interview. It could help me to prepare for an interview. I am know french language in basic level and am attending some classes to improve my french language.

Will they ask all the interview questions in french? I have n't submitted any english or french lanuguage proof.

Hi heyram,

Yes, the interview is entirely is French. The questions are based on the application papers you have already submitted, in fact, the interviewer turned over every page of our application and signed each one during the interview. The interview is a test of your level of French. We were also asked; why we chose Quebec. Do we have any family there. What we intend to do when we get there. Just basic questions which we were expecting.
We made a long weekend of it... Saw the sights, ate good food etc... Take plenty of cash though, 13€ for 2 coffees...

I applied for my CSQ at the end of last September and received that acknowledgement letter early November. Then one week later I received my CSQ, no interview !

Hi,

I actually sent quite a comprehensive application, I think it ended up being about 70 pages in total! I started off with all the forms from the website and then included my CV in English and French; certified copies of my degree, A level and GCSE certificates, a transcript from my degree and copies of my national record of achievement. After that I had an attestation from my current employer as well as letters they have sent me since I have worked there regarding pay rises, promotions etc and also my letter of engagement from them and copies of various pay cheques. I went to Paris to take the TCFQ and so I also included the certificate I got from that as proof of my French ability. Finally I included certified copies of my birth certificate and passport. I numbered all the pages and indexed it all so that it was easy for them to see what was what which I think also probably helped speed up the processing.

I hope this is of use to you, I actually think taking the TCFQ probably helped quite a lot because when you take it in Paris, a copy automatically gets sent to the Bureau of Immigration (because that test is used purely for immigration purposes), so they already had a copy of that before I even sent off my application. (I could only find one place in London that does the TCFQ and they only seemed to do it once a year in March ! The language school I found in Paris does it once a month).

I did the same things like how you did. I have attached my employer reference letter, birth certificate, pay slips, graduate certificate, marriage certificate, CV in french.

The problem is I know french in very basic level. even I attended basic level course as well. I am wondering If I know any french training center for obtaining TCFQ certificate.
I am basically from Bristol city. If you know any french training center in UK or Paris. It would help me a lot. Because I am worrying about my interview session. If I sent a application with TCFQ certificate, I might have received my CSQ certificate now. Could you please tell me what's the minimum score required to send Bureau of Immigration and information about TCFQ training in Paris.

I am not sure that there is a minimum score but if you have an interview and you can show that you have taken steps to try to learn French I have heard that helps.

The place I did the test was called Accord Langues in Paris : http://www.accord-langues.com. They do classes and a summer school there too. I got the impression that it is fairly unusual for people to take the TCFQ there though and I was the only one that took it that month. There is also the Institut Français in London where you can take French lessons. But it is probably not worth you actually doing the TCFQ until they come back to you; they may not require you to do it, I did it before I applied because I wanted to make my application as comprehensive as possible but I would say you should try to start some French classes, even in Bristol somewhere you could probably find a class, so that if you go to an interview you can show that you are willing to learn French. And also because when you get to Québec the more French you know the better!

hi all,
my name is mansoor, i have already applied for quebec csq two weeks ago and still waiting for acknowledgment from pairs .. since 4 years i have been living in uganda but i m permanent resident of pakistan. i had done my master in computer sciences and second master is in master in business administration. i have more than 10 years exp. my age is 36 years. i m married with 2 kids. my wife also have a experience of chef and in her form i mention about it and one year cooking experience in pak. my english level is expert level but french is 0. but i have passed the preliminary online test.

the question which i need to ask from this respected forum that one of the form which we filled and signed was declaration on the common values of quebec society. its stated as parents we need to learn french in quebec if we do not speak already. so my question is that should we start learning here or we also can study in quebec.

ur response is requested in this regard.

Mansoor,

It’s a difficult question to answer, because it depends in which capacity you have applied.

My understanding is that unless you have applied under a skilled worker category, in which case you visa application will be fast tracked, the main applicant is required to speak fluent French, and even the second applicant needs to speak to a (lower) intermediary level, at least. That's what we were told in our interview. Like I posted earlier, the interview is entirely in French.

Regarding French in Quebec, it's true that you can get by with a basic level, however if your children were to attend a French school, I can tell you from experience that everything, from the forms your child brings home to the parents evening are in French, and French only. There is NO accommodation given to English, or any other language for that matter.

There are free courses in Quebec designed for adults to improve their level of French.

I studied hard, even employed a tutor - If you are serious about moving to Quebec I would advise a similar approach.

Once you are here there are huge opportunities in business, also it's a great place for kids to grow up.

I've been here 5 Months and the business I started has been going great, we've taken trips to Niagara Falls, Vermont, NY, Ottawa... loads to do and see... A country of beauty and opportunity.... Hit the books!

hi all

i need to ask one more question, i sent my documents on 3rd of nov. 2010, my age was 35 years. today 26/11/10 i m 36 years old according to my date of birth. so immigration officer will consider me on 35 or 36 years old. ur valuable suggestion is requested...

Your age would be based on the date the office received it.
