Criminal rehabilitation- information only timescale

So my partner, two children and myself are planning to move permanently to British Columbia and go through the express entry route. We have enough points and my partner will be the main applicant.
However I have a criminal record and after getting my police certificate it’s probable I will need to apply for criminal rehabilitation. I have one dui resulting in a ban and fine in 2008 and a caution for cultivating cannabis in 2010.
I think I have a good idea of what I will need to include in my rehabilitation application, but I wondered if it could be sensible to apply on an information only basis first or dive straight in.
I understand the actual process could take over a year but does anyone know how long it would take for an answer if I applied on an information only basis, or does anyone have any experience going down the information only route first?
Any info or tips would be greatly appreciated..

Hi, welcome to BE.
An 'info only' app is usually recommended for those that want to check they are deemed rehabilitated before applying and to confirm they don't need to do a full rehab app. As you will definitely need criminal rehabilitation from what you've said, I don't really see the point in doing an info only app tbh.
So best just to go straight to a criminal rehab app and get that underway asap IMO. What is your wife scoring on the CRS at the mo, is she borderline or scoring well over the usual minimum?

Thanks for the info and welcome,
I can’t remember exactly what she scored but it was definitely over the minimum, she has a degree in dentistry (masters equivalent) and we are both 31, native English speakers so I hope if we can overcome the rehabilitation barrier we should be invited.
I think I’ll get moving on the application asap and collect all the supporting docs together, I’ve also lived in Thailand for a few years so I believe will have to get a criminal clearance certificate from there as well, which will be clear but will probably be a bit of a wait to get it.
Again many thanks for your reply that’s really cleared it up for me, this forum is so useful I’ve been going though the posts with great interest, it’s going to be months, perhaps more of uncertainty till I hear back but it’s good to know I'm on the right path!
thanks

Fingers crossed you get rehab back quickly and can get your EE app underway.
Best of luck.

Hopefully so, the reason I asked if she was borderline on points (say 440ish), then she'll lose points as she gets older. So depending on when her birthday is and when you get rehab, that may be a factor and something to consider.

Any info on criminal rehab timescales is always greatly appreciated. It seems to have been quite quick recently, so fingers crossed you don't have to wait too long.
