Criminal Rehabilitation
 

Hi everyone,

I used this message board extensively when I was trying to become a PR so I thought I'd come back and see if anyone would like to answer some more inane questions for me ;)

I've been a PR for a couple of years now and my parents have finally decided they want to come visit me. My dad has a conviction for domestic assault that resulted in a £240 fine on 28/10/2010. We're currently in the process of putting together his rehabilitation application but my question is...does he have to put in an application for a TRV at the same time? I've tried reading the CIC website but I feel like I'm misunderstanding what I'm reading.

He tried to get an ETA but obviously that was denied so I'm leaning towards yes, he will need to submit both applications for criminal rehab and TRV at the same time.
Does anyone have experience with this?

EDIT: Also, if anyone could help me find out what the equivalent for the conviction is in Canadian law that would be insanely helpful too! The conviction on his UK police cert says "domestic abuse aggravator (Scotland)" and then that he was charged £240 with 1 assault offence and nothing else ever happened.
