Credit checks for residency?

Credit checks for residency?
Hi Guys
Do you have to have a credit check from the UK for residency in Canada?
I've been in Canada now since Jan and am thinking of applying for the BCPNP, Only thing is I've been late with a couple of credit card payments due to being sloppy and disorganized about sending money back to my UK account and was wondering what if any bearing this could have on my application.
I've always had a good credit rating but I'm not sure how big a deal late payments are and what affect it could all have.

There is no credit check involved.
