Default Credit cards

Hi all,

I would like to know about the usage of credit cards issued outside Canada,
for transactions in Canada.

I would like to take some credit cards from India, say HSBC( Having international banking support.).Can i use this same card for transactions in Canada.Or is there any particular Bank, in Canada with which i should hold a credit card inorder to use this.

Is there any additional charges for using this type of cards? Is there any benefits in using credit cards, rather than cash for transactions.

Any replies are welcome.

Hi PP

I worked over here and opened an account with a bank and changed money from my uk account but HSBC branches are available in canada and you would probably pay comission on transactions. as for other cards yep all of them but for cash withdarawls at cnada banks you will pay a percentage of the money taken out but not for goods

this is the setup i have from mu uk bank

It would be worth asking HSBC on charges from their sister branches in canada

regards

matty

There is some useful information on credit cards and other credit in the following thread:

http://britishexpats.com/forum/showthread.php?t=270548

It has some good information on getting credit cards from Canadian banks.
