Default CPR Change in Family Situation

Hi all,

I have received my confirmation of permanent residency and am about to flagpole to pick up my PR card. However, in the document it states that I must inform them of any change to my family situation prior to doing so. I've tried contacting the CIC call centre to ask them/let them know - they're useless; they make you go through a load of options then the call hangs up. Infuriating.

So my situation is that I live in Canada, applied for PR through the Canadian Experience Class, and since my application I have passed the time considered to be in a common law relationship. However, my girlfriend is a Canadian citizen by birth, so do I still need to inform them given that it doesn't really affect anything? If I do have to inform them, will I have to go through any further steps prior to picking up my PR?

Cheers for any help.

If you applied under the experience class and were granted it I'm not sure why you'd need to inform them of anything.
