Question Couple of application questions

I'm just starting the application process for a skilled worker visa and I had a couple of questions.

My ex wife and I are both planning on emigrating, along with my son. Since we are separated we will need to apply separately. Does anyone know if we need to list our son on both applications or just on one? Also, my son's passport expires next year, very likely before we get to Canada. Will there be a problem if the passport he holds at the time of first entry has a different number than the one on the application forms? Should I get it renewed now before applying?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Paul

No idea about the ex wife situation.

I was here on a one year WP, and was applying for PR via the BC PNP program. I renewed my UK passport whilst in Canada before my PR application to save complications further down the line.

You can only have a visa for the time your passport is valid, eg, say you should get a 2 year WP but your passport expires in 18 months time, you'd only get a one year WP.

My old passport expires Jan 08. I renewed in July 07. My new passport is valid from July 07 to Jan 2018. Therefore I was not wasting the last few months on my passport as my new one has an extended expiry date (I hope that makes sense)

Anyway, in answer to your actual question, I would personly renew passport before application

How will you or your wife answer the question about your/her spouse in the application form? Isn’t the answer same as you answer the question about your child?

However, it is quite possible to renew the passport after applying and before the application is processed, then inform CHC of the change. Obviously life will be easier if you can renew it before applying.
