Default Could anybody give me the 101?

Hi there,

I would like to know how to immigrate to Canada. Does it matter where is
someone coming from? If you could point me to FAQ or website I would really
appreciate it. I live in the USA but I'm a Mexican citizen. I'm a Computer
Scientist and work in the IT field.

Thanks!

All basic questions are answered on the Canadian government's immigration
website here:

www.cic.gc.ca

Go there, learn about various programs and processes first - then come back
here if you have more detailed questions. You may also email me directly for
free assessment of your chances and options.

Go to www.cic.gc.ca - read carefully the information about how to apply to become a permanent resident of canada as a skilled worker.

Everything matters!

Cool, thanks. I would love to get permanent residence. Is it hard to get a
citizenship? (compared to the US)

Thanks!

In order to be eligible to apply for Canadian citizenship you must first
become a Permanent Resident. After becoming a PR you must accumulate 1,095
days of residency in Canada within 4 years prior to citizenship application
to be eligible to apply.

Hello!

You might want to reconsider going to canada. Canada is extremely
racist country with no IT jobs. Certain immigration consultants will
tell you different, but it is just because they solicit business from
you. By going to canada you may ruin your life.

TheHelper, you may be independant but I suspect you are not without an
agenda.
My guess is you had a bad time at the hands a an Immigration
Consultant and/or got thrown out of Canada for some reason.

Please feel free to let us all know the full story so we know how
biased your views are (My guess - Extremely)

If you can't come up with anything helpful, why not just keep quiet?

Dear someone,

thank you very much for your reply. I never had bad time or was thrown
out of canada. In fact i am now residing in the Greatest Country of
All times - U.S.A. It is much better than canada in all aspects. That
is why before settling for canada everybody should try to immigrate to
U.S.A. instead! Concerning the immigration consultants - we do not
have them here, they exist only in the thirld-world countries (like
canada).

Let me get this straight.....
You don't live in Canada
You don't want to live in Canada
You don't want anyone else to go to Canada.

WTF are you doing on this newsgroup?
I suggest you try a group with "mental health issues" or similar in
its title.

As for getting into the US, since 9/11, El Preidente has made it
harder than a hard thing to get in. Unless you are mexican or know who
to bribe/marry of course.

PS> The US has immigration lawyers. By calling themselves lawyers
rather than consultants, they can charge more, but they do essentially
the same job.

Thankyou and goodnight.

rudeness will get you nowhere. May be you should try to go easy on the
heavy drinking?

i see you have great personal knowledge and experience with "mental
health issues"....that explains your response

you are wrong. if you have extraordinary ability in arts, science or
something else, it is very easy actually. the bribing thing, well you
have wrong attitude.

for you specially, "lawyers" can not just call themselves lawyers (be
it america or canada). It is much more complicated, you, for example
also can call yourself something, but it will be just meaningless and
pointless
A lawyer can represent client in the court of law, "consultant" can
not. That is why your statement that they " essentially the same job"
is simple lie.
