Hi Everyone,
I have often considered moving to Canada, and now the time feels right to make a start on emigration proceedings.
Im looking for some advice on how to start the process to emigrate.
1) Should I go through a consultant?
2) What steps should I take first?
3) Can I get a work permit for a 1 or 2 year period or should I be looking at longer term visas?
Any help from someone who has been in a similar situation would be much appreciated.
Regards

First step should be to visit Citizenship and Immigration Canada website
here:
www.cic.gc.ca
and learn about the process and requirements as well as to find out if you
qualify.
Then, if you qualify of course, you may try to do everything on your own (as
long as you are confident that you can do it) or you may hire immigration
practitioner based in Canada to assist you.
Rest of your questions can only be answered after assessment of your case.
You may contact me directly for free evaluation.

If you've not already done so you should start by visiting
http://www.cic.gc.ca
Work permits usually require a job offer from a Canadian company, but
most companies will not offer jobs to those who require work permits!
It's far better to get permission to immigrate, if you qualify.

Once you've copleted the tasks suggested, please also do a search in either deja or here concerning lawyers. There are a number of posts concerning good/bad experiences and the more information you have will help you to make your mind up. Personally if I had to do it again knowing what I now know, I would choose one of the chaps answering in here.
