Question Common Law, Work Visas and PNP???

Dear all

Thank you so much for your responses and kind assistance. Heather is currently completing registration forms for the BC PNP and Nursing Registration. We are very excited - especially having read the experiences of others in the forum and the relatively short time between applying and moving!

I understand that it will be possible for me to relocate to Canada with Heth once she has jumped through all the hoops and has a job. Am I right in thinking that I will be able to apply for a work permit initially whilst we go through the PNP route for PR? We aren't actually married (yet! - no immediate plans though...) but have been living together for about 7 years. We have joint finances and own a home together. Will I still qualify under common law? I understand that Canada is one of few countries that acknowledge common law relationships. Is there anything we need to be aware of here? As far as I can tell it looks like we should be ok for PR but I'm not sure about the initial work visa and PNP application...

Thanks again for your help - it is very much appreciated!

Kind Regards
Jase & Heth

you need at least 12 months old of joint legal documents - ie joint bank account, joint morgage etc... recommended you get joint wills too.
