Default Common Law Spousal PR Ap

Hi guys,

I've been on the forum for a while now and everyone has been really helpful. After being back and forth from the UK to Canada the last few years im finally at the point of filling out my PR form properly now. I thought I would create this thread so im not just asking questions at the end of other peoples threads.

My situation is: My girlfriend is a Canadian citizen and im a UK citizen. We're both living in the UK just now as she is also an EU passport holder. We've been living together for a year and a half un-interrupted and have lease agreements and joint accounts etc.

Everything should be fairly straight forward but i find at times im second guessing my first answers to a lot of these questions as sometimes the wording can be confusing etc.

Thanks in advance for anyone who can help me with my queries, its much appreciated...thinking about doing this application or a year has turned it into some sort of monstrous task in my mind

My first query would be to anyone who has filled this out from the UK recently: When they ask for High school information IE Diploma, should i be filling in Standard grades, Highers etc, or are the dates enough? We dont 'pass' High School with a diploma like they do in Canada so not too sure.

Cheers

Years of successfully completed formal education is what is asked for. There is a spousal application guide on the CIC's website that you should follow carefully.

For type of diploma or certificate I just wrote "highers". It only asks for secondary and post-secondary education. Just give the years and what you acheived

Yeah, wasnt sure whether to attach a separate page with the specifics results or not...im thinking 'Highers' will be enough though?

These are the set of forms you need to use: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/informa...cations/fc.asp

This is the guide for you - as the applicant: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/informa...toc.asp#3999E3

This is the guide for your partner - as the sponsor: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/informa...s/3900ETOC.asp

From the applicants guide, re education:

Non-university certificate/Diploma - Training in a profession that requires formal education but not at the university level (for example, dental technician or engineering technician).
Post-secondary - No degree - Post-secondary studies at a college or university but no degree earned.

I am following the guides, i promise, sometimes though i doubt myself and like to double, triple check

Ok so I called to book my medical today and the panel physicians office said they needed a reference number of a form, possibly a '1017' form?

The panel physician is living in the past, the IMM 1017 no longer exists, explain that the medical is for a spousal application.

I would.

Perhaps find one that is e-medical enabled, that way your file will be sent electronically and therefore will be quicker. Just tell them you need an up-front medical for a spousal application.

So medical is booked for Monday, got one that is e-medical enabled, thanks Siousxie.

I know you said it should be ok but im ultra nervous RE being treated for cancer last year. It says to bring specialist reports for any previous medical condition but I dont have all of them to hand so hoping they can access the reports from the UK database.

Actually most of my treatment for Cancer was done in Canada which I have some paperwork for.

First, congrats on beating it.

I wouldn't be worried, though. You only get screened to make sure you aren't bringing in anything contagious into the country, mainly TB is what they're looking for. Unless they are a threat to public safety, spouses can't be turned away for pre-existing medical conditions. (I don't think.)

I wouldn't worry too much about it.

Thanks Schnooko!

I know that was my understanding but they sent me a pre screening questionnaire that made me a bit nervous, all the tick boxes etc. Maybe im just getting super nervous about finally submitting my app.

Thanks again
