Default Common-law partner was a sponsorship agreement holder for a refugee

Hi all,

My common-law partner is sponsoring me and i'm fill out form IMM5481E: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kit...s/IMM5481E.PDF

I'm trying to answer the question under the heading "NUMBER OF FAMILY MEMBERS AND PERSONS INCLUDED IN UNDERTAKINGS IN EFFECT AND NOT YET IN EFFECT"

The relevant sections are as follows:
B) Previous undertakings
i) Number of persons included in previous undertakings you signed as a sponsor and that are still in effect. Provide details on the back of this page.
iii) Number of persons included in previous undertakings you co-signed where these undertakings are still in effect. Provide details on the back of this page.

My common-law partner helped sponsor an Eritrean refugee who is now a permanent resident. Is this part of the application interested in that sponsorship, or is it only interested in other family/spousal sponsorships in the past?

Thanks!

Also, on form IMM5285E - http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kit...s/IMM5285E.PDF

Q11 asks "Has your sponsor ever submitted a sponsorship application for another person?
(Verify with your sponsor before answering this question)"

Does this include refugee sponsorship?

Are you applying as an "Inland" applicant or 'Outland'? (I'm guessing Inland as I believe the 2nd form is specific to that application pack).

For the form the sponsor fills out IMM5481

Question 5

Details of current and previous undertakings.

Write the number of persons included in undertakings in effect and not yet in effect.

If you have signed undertakings in the past, you must provide some details about them. Follow the instructions on the form and be specific.

For the 2nd post, the same basically. It does ask the nature of the relationship, so any sponsorship would need to be put down as far as I am aware.

Thanks for this Siouxie! I can't seem to find any indication of if this affects my partner's eligibility to sponsor me, do you know?

You're most welcome!

I don't really know, sorry! I'm presuming it would depend on whether the sponsorship has now ended (they are time limited normally) or not.

1. Assuming it was a group sponsorship of a refugee, it has no effect on her sponsorship of you. The group sponsorships are 1 year duration.

That's right, it was a group sponsorship. He is landed and PR. He landed back in March. Does that mean he's still in the duration that blocks me?

1. You are not "blocked" only spousal applications of less than 3 years, and sponsorships where the person goes on welfare blocks further sponsorships.

Well this is a relief. I didn't see it in the exclusionary criteria but you never know. Thanks so much for helping to clear this up.
