Closed Work Permit
Hi ALL,
One of my friend who is IT consultant has got closed work permit from one of the consulting company. Company is based in Montreal, QC. So he has couple of questions:
1) If he get deployed in Ontario OR any other province, is he eligible to apply for local provincial PNP after working one year in that particular province. Reason for this question is because he will be still getting his pay from Montreal based company, So his T4 will be from QC.
2) If he get deployed in QC, he is planning to live permanently in Ontario so that he will be eligible for Ontario PNP after one year. Will he be eligible for Ontario PNP in this case OR not?
3) If he gets permanent job in some other company, can he do so because he will be on CLOSED work permit. If yes then does he need new LMIA for the 2nd company. In case of new LMIA, does he need to take permission from previous company OR not?
Please help me if anyone has gone through similar situation....

1) Not sure where the '1 year' requirement has come from, why do you think that's the case? But he'll be highly unlikely to qualify for PNP in Ontario if he's living in Quebec.
2) Not unless he has a job in Ontario.
3) He'll need a new job offer and LMIA. He can't work for anybody else whilst on a closed work permit.
Also note that some TWP's state the location on them, and if that is the case on his, he can't work elsewhere without getting that amended. So if he gets 'deployed' (not really sure what you mean by that as it's a military term usually) in Ontario, the company will need to change the conditions on his TWP too.
