Hi
I am looking for some guidance and advice. We are still in two minds about making the move to Canada as a family. However, we are going to do a recce/landing trip to get residency activated.
A little background, I am a Citizen by decent I have all my docs and paperwork. The main aim above anything else here is to get my kids full citizenship for the future whether we decide to make the move or not. I can’t auto pass citizenship to them as I got mines as first gen descent.
Scenario…husband and kids have applied for residency, we have satisfied all the requirements, landed and got the residency.
My kids are now immediately able to apply for citizenship and don’t need the 3 out of 5 years etc can I…
1. Apply for kids’ citizenship while we are there on a recce trip and get this there and then?
2. Apply for this when retuned to the UK (under 14 so no requirement to attend ceremony)? Seems like you can supply email address to receive correspondence.
3. Do you have to apply with a Canadian address and be inside Canada?
4. Open to other suggestions but think the above cover it.
Thanks

I’d be intrigued to see how this is possible I got my citizenship through decent but cannot pass it on to my 2 kids. I had to sponsor them when we moved here and as such we are waiting the 3 years. When you go online to apply it says they aren’t eligible right now as they haven’t been here 3 years. It’s getting close though. I hope your right.

Hey
Just looping back to my original questions, if anyone has been in similar situation or knows the correct path.
1. Apply for kids’ citizenship while we are there on a recce trip and get this there and then?
2. Apply for this when returned to the UK (under 14 so no requirement to attend ceremony)? Seems like you can supply email address to receive correspondence.
3. Do you have to apply with a Canadian address and be inside Canada?
4. Open to other suggestions but think the above cover it.
