Default citizenship language test

Hi,

I'm currently going through my Canadian Citizenship application. Is it correct you have to do a language test? Even for people from the UK who have lived in Canada 4 years?
Confirmation would be appreciated.

Thanks

Joe

Confirmed. A bit annoying but let's be honest, you're not likely to fail. Just a bureaucratic waste of time & money, but there you are.

A language test is one way of providing evidence of language ability. There are other ways.

we didn't take a language test. I photocopied every single scrap of school documentation I could get my hands on. Exam results, certificates, YTS letters....even my swimming proficiency certificate from when I was 7!!! It proved we were educated for a long period in the UK. They never queried it. CIC received our application on 14th Feb, our ceremony was exactly 6 months later.

I was told by CIC to send a copy of Uni degree in which would be sufficient

No.

It's mandatory now for PR.

For citizenship a copy of a degree certificate is enough.
