Citizenship - Got My Oath Letter

Time line is good...submitted my application in April, tested in early
September, doing my oath mid November. Just thought I'd share that so
people know for their own reference.

Did you have to get your fingerprints done?

Nope. Didn't know that was a requirement. One presumes because I had
them done for my immigration application years ago, there was no need to get
an updated set.

Usually the only persons who have to submit fingerprints are those whose
name and DOB is similar to a person who has a criminal record when CIC does
a CPIC name check on your citizenship application. The fingerprints are to
ensure that you are not the same person as the one with the criminal record.

When you get your application kit, it outlines everything required.
It's useless me saying what I needed to submit months ago, because things
change...and I was using an old kit that I'd received years ago. :-) I was
just lucky, it seems, the checklist was current.

Permanent Resident of Canada, 3 years residency (1095 days) in the preceding
4 years prior to application, time in Canada prior to PR with legal status
counts as 1/2 up to maximum of 6 months. Depending on where you reside,
processing can take from 5 months to a year from application date.

Hi Trikky,

Thanks for your information. I would like to know
which place in Canada has the shortest processing time? In your case in Vancouver it takes about 5 months, is this correct?

Thanks,
Monir
