Default Citizenship for children

Can anyone tell me. although I have read the cic information but still do not know the answer, if my husband applies for Canadian citizenship for him and my children, (unfortunately I do not qualify yet),and I in the meantime decide to move home to the UK although he stays here is that OK. As they are under 14 they do not need to do the exam or go to the ceremony but have lived here a while so is that still ok?????
Thanks

1. Are they his children? If they are his step children, then they can't be included in his application, but have to meet the residency in their own right.
