Re: Citizenship Application Timeline
This is based on passport Canada locations. I don’t know about service Canada
I applied for my daughters via mail and it took about a month

Also longer process here. I really don't think it is fair.
There are people who are receiving it in record time and you can hear how smug orly is. In a good way - I'd be happy too.
It's kind of heartbreaking how sporadic it appears to be, and it doesn't help to be lectured on this forum when we mention these feelings either.
That said, I do realize it takes a while to review stamps, dates, check records and such - so that is understandable - but the discrepancies between applicants is too much IMHO.

Re: Citizenship Application Timeline
Hi, we've just received our invitation (4th November) to take the oath, we're super excited, can you tell me how long after the oath does it take to receive your certificate.
We were just about to heading to the states to see our daughter as soon as the border opens.
I'm trying to find our how long getting your certificate and applying and receiving your new passport takes, I'm assuming I can't travel on my UK passport?
Thanks

Thanks, we sent off our application in June 2019, started in November 2019, so 24 months to complete,

Maybe Orly is just relieved and it comes off as smug to us because we're getting bitter and twisted. Really hoping it doesn't take much longer. I feel stuck in limbo and like I can't even book a trip because I don't want the risk of either being in the wrong place when the oath is due or otherwise having to reschedule one or the other!

Which is why I commented as I did. I’m happy for you. But you can understand why we’re a tad frustrated. You’re through in a third of the time ours has taken so far and we have no idea still how long it’s going to take 😢

Service Canada also take walk ins but you need to get there early (there was about 20 people in the walk in queue at the Sinclair Centre by 10am this morning and it was moving very slowly). The current wait time for appointments is about 2 weeks as well.

I'd presume the oath is done virtually? If so, very curious to know how they monitor it, as when I took my oath in person, there were various people walking around checking you were actually reciting the oath, and at least one person was seen to not doing so, and was told at least twice (I think once during the english reading and one during the french reading) they needed to speak the oath (we were all doing it in unison), and on the third time the person was asked to leave and escorted out of the room.
