Default Citizenship Application Question

Hi All, I got my AOR for my citizenship application on Feb 23 and it was being processed April 16.

Today I checked my application online and it says the below, but I didn't receive an email. I tried to call CIC to clarify but they say they're too busy and it wont put me through to an agent. Any idea if this means they posted me a letter/my application back as incomplete?

"We sent you correspondence on May 22, 2018. If you have not yet provided the information or the requested documents, please do so as soon as possible. Please wait until you receive the correspondence before sending us additional information, as the correspondence will outline all information that is required."

Thanks

Sounds like extra information is being requested. If it was being sent back incomplete you wouldn't even have got a file number and it wouldn't have gone into processing. Check all your email folders including spam and bin) in case they emailed you (rather than sent you a letter.)

Thanks, I checked my email/spam but didn't get anything. I checked online and a few people mentioned they had to get fingerprints done, via a letter in the post. I'm not sure if thats it?

Well I'm not psychic enough to be able to see what more information they want! Hang in there ... Keep checking your emails and monitoring your post.

I suspect it was sent by Canada Post...likely with documents or forms. Same thing happened to me re: PR card renewal. What they sent me..came by mail. In my case they wanted various forms of proof of my presence in Canada for 5 years. Sent it all and had my card in the mail a few weeks later.

I got through on the phone and they said it is a fingerprints request. A little confused why they need it though as i've not had to submit them before with PR, Work permits etc

As of July, they are asking for fingerprints for PR and temp visas but those applying for citizenship are exempt so im not sure why you have been asked

Many people receive a fingerprint request during Citizenship processing for various reasons. My daughter who turned 18 during processing in 2015 got just such a request. Nobody else in the family was asked. It's nothing to do with the new biometrics rules which are being implemented from end of July.

well I just hope I don’t get asked for it. Wouldn’t even know where to begin with it

It's easy if you're in Canada and to make it completely hassle free/quick you can go to the Commissionaires for a small fee.

We've both received a request for fingerprints. Surprised since we had to do this for PR but apparently they don't keep them on file so it's to be done again.
Off to get them done next week.
Oh well, the wheels grind exceeding slow.
