Default citizenship

What is required to get citizenship in Canada if I'm an American citizen now? Do I
need a visa while I live there until I get citizenship?

You must qualify, apply for, and be issued an immigrant visa, and then you must live
in Canada for three years before you can apply for Canadian citizenship.
