Hi,

I just came over from Germany and I am currently looking for car insurance, which
accepts my European driving experience. I have a letter from my German insurance,
which states, that I have 8 claimfree years for third party insurance and 18 claim
free years for comprehensive insurance. Does anybody knows any company, which accepts
this, since the premiums of the other insurances are pretty high.

Thanks in advance,

Thorsten.

P.S.: I switched my German drivers license to the Ontario one just two days ago.

I do not have a direct answer to your question, however, you may want to try (if you
haven't already) the following websites which have links for auto insurance (quotes),
amongst other auto information:

Good luck. -Lute

I sent a similar letter to State Farm when I moved here. It worked out fine.

Try them...hope this helps.

Sabbir.

Hi, I've been going over the same problem in anticipation of landing. The people I've
come up with so far are State Farm http://www.statefarm.com go to the webb site and
find your local agent (for Kitchener/Waterloo area use Kim Bozak), or there's Dawn at
car insurance Canada ([email protected])
. Expect to pay from 3 to 5 times your european premium though. I've also been told
that if you join the CAA they will insure you but I've not had it confirmed. Could
you let me know what you had to do for the driving part of the test and did you
make any special preperations, I've got the Ontario drivers handbook in the mail
for the Knoledge test.. Matt.

Hi Matthew,

thanks for your answer. I didn't have to take a test for the license. I just had to
get a translation by a certified translator for my German drivers license and they
switched it right away to an Ontario G license. I heart, that this policy is really
new in Ontario.

Bye,

Thorsten.
