Default Change application from Independent to Family

Dear experts,

My mother's application is in New York consulate waiting for interview
under independent application. The new law put her in disadvantage and
more likely than not she wouldn't pass. I received approval to sponsor
her under Family class and my mother would like to apply under the
family class.

Is it possible to to change application at NY consulate? Or should she
cancel the first one and send family application at her home country?

Thanks

Your approval should have included her file number at the visa office. You
would not normally have her cancel the first and submit a new one.

Jim,

Should she just send my sponsorship approval to NY consulate? When I
applied to sponsor her the sponsorship forms didn't ask whether my
mother applied independently.

Thanks a lot for your help
