Default CCRA Notice of assessment (2002) requested for spouse

Hello - I recently sent in my spousal sponsorship application (Feb 9, 2003)
which was approved. My wife received an interview waiver from buffalo. At
the time of filing my sponsorship application, I had not filed my taxes for
2002. Buffalo RPC sent a letter to my wife stating that they need my Notice
of assessment for 2002. I just filed my taxes for 2002 on April 9th. I am
told that it will take about 10 weeks to receive my notice of assesment. I
work as a contractor and I am self employed individual for tax purposes.

I have a GST number and hence cannot provide T-4 slips, since I don't
receive normal pay cheques. I send invoices and the client sends me a
regular check.

1) Will CCRA issue any other documents in lieu of the normal Notice of
assessment to expediate this process.

2) My income for 2002 was about 50 K . Can I send a copy of my T1 form that
I sent with the taxes.

Thanks.

You should wait for the notice of assessment for 2002. It should not delay
things as there are other steps in the process that must go ahead at the
same time.
