The other option is to contact one of the CIC Call Centres to make an appointment with an officer to have the the PR activated and apply for your PR Card.
A friend of mine contacted the Call centre and was told it would be approximately 8 weeks before someone would contact her to make an appointment. She hasn't got the time to wait for 8 weeks +, so is going on holiday to the states and then activating the PR on their return.

The poor immigration (Border Agency officers) officers would be inundated and on second thoughts not good for anyone all round.
I am looking forward to my trip to Montana, even just the overnight stay and the wee bit of shopping

I don't think so. It would be good to do that

Enjoy your sleep, it is a long trip for one day.
We are hoping to go on Saturday.
Was there anything specific you had to take excepting passport, COPR and bank statement?

Just passports, COPRS and proof of current residence for for primary applicant.
Oh and smiles for those arsey US Border Guards
Are you stopping over in Montana for the weekend? We didn't bother as the weather was vile and we had things going on this weekend. Will save the shopping trip for Spokane in the summer me thinks.
If you are coming straight back again and are refused entry into the US you get a nice Escort from the border guard with his lights flashing and jump into the line near the top, the kids particularly liked this
Oh, one other thing if you're heading to Coutts there is a very nice new looking Tourist Info Center just past the grain elevators at Milk River. The washrooms are excellent and things to do to keep the wee ones (or yourselves) amused for 15 minutes or so before hitting the border, or BOREDOM as my youngest daughter later kept announcing, in a much too loud voice
Good Luck and have a safe trip!

We are just stopping overnight in Great Falls, booked into the Hampton Inn, only 87 USD with CAA discount
Shopping trip will come at a later date when we have more time and money to spend.
I quite like the idea of an escort with the Border Guard and the 'go to the top of the queue' scenario I really should grow up
Glad it all went well for you and the wee ones had fun with the escort
Now to get the docs etc collated to take with us.
Thank you.
