Default Canadian Super 7 Lotto is a big scam

It has almost the same chance as a big game lotto in USA, but you pay $2 per ticket,
and the pot is only 34 M, and that is the highest ever. Well in USA, it hits 331M,
and 1 dollar per ticket. So that means Candian lotto is 20 times more expensive than
the US one.

As always you have no idea what you are talking about...

Regardless the fact that it has nothing to do with Canadian immigration I would like
to enlighten you here a little...

First of all - for Can$ 2.00 you buy Super 7 ticket which has 3 sets of numbers - in
most US mega games you pay US$ 1.00 for just 1 set of numbers..., so Super 7 Lotto
costs you about Can$ 0.66 per set of numbers (about US$ .44)...

Second - advertised jackpots in US are a real *scam* as for example 100 million
jackpot means that you will receive 100 million in total in about 26 annual
installments. If you opt for the lump sum payment than you receive only about half of
that advertised *jackpot*, only about 50 million. More, you still must pay US income
tax out of that (30% or more), so if you are lucky you are left with about 35
million...

Third - all Canadian jackpots are always paid in a lump sum. What you see as an
advertised jackpot is exactly what you get in one single payment if you win, there is
no 25 annual installments here - you win today then next day you have the full
jackpot on your account and it is completely **tax free** as we don't pay any taxes
on lottery winnings in Canada... unless like yourself you are living in US and will
have to report that Canadian winning on your US tax return and pay 30% or more tax on
it to uncle Sam...

So please, check your sources, learn and think before typing subject line and a post
like the one you just did...

But still, let look at the lastest 331M big game, that gives 180 in cash option, and
after tax, there will be 110M. So 1 dollar for 100M, but Canadian is 0.66 dollar for
34M, or 1 dollar for 66M. but the winnder chance is 8:7 between us and canada, so it
will be 100:78, between us and canadian games. So, it is close.

The answer is simple. If you think that the Canadian lottery is a scam, don't
buy a ticket.

Let the rest of us who do buy tickets enjoy our winnings without your scepticism.

you have to add of course that all lotteries are arranged in such a way as to make
huge amounts of money for the government/company who run them. The odds are
fantasticly long and it it much quoted that lotteries are "a tax on stupid people" or
a "tax on the mathematicaly challanged" but still, evening doing the maths, it's hard
to turn down a ticket with a $35 million jackpot. hehe. someones gonna win and every
line has the same odds.
