Can someone please give me some advice. Short version is I got my residency card in August 2007. Came back to uk in June 2008. My card expires in August 2012 and I'm thinking of returning to Canada. What are the rules for returning using my residency card? Do I still have time to do it?

When did you actually land and activate your PR status? You need to spend 2 years out of every 5 in Canada to stay a Permanent Resident, so that's the important bit. Sounds as though you've done that from what you've said, so no issue returning to Canada that I can see.
