Hi,
posting this on the behalf of someone. He is in the final stages of
getting Canadian PR. Filed application in New Delhi but currently in
the US on H1B visa for last 5 years. New Delhi asked him to send
original passport(s) in the mail to them for visa stamping. This
stamping could take upto 4 months after you send it. According to the
passport rules u can not send passports outside the country. Can u
tell me what are the alternatives available and how this should be
explained to the Canadian consulate in New Delhi.

The only alternative is to give passport to someone you trust who is
traveling to India or to go there yourself.
Indian law prohibits sending Indian passports into and out of India by mail
or courier.
