Default Canadian PR crossing border on train

Hi Guys,
Quick question for you all. I'm a Canadian PR, currently doing a bit of touring down in the States. I was considering taking an Amtrak train from NY to Toronto, but I wanted to make sure that the immigration people will take the I-94 form from my passport. Don't want the Americans thinking I'm overstaying my 90 days! Anyone have an experience of crossing back into Canada on a train? What's the whole procedure?
Thanks in advance!

I don't know about on a train but there have been other posts about people crossing from NY to CA that arrived via cruise ships and they seemed to be okay,

We looked into this earlier this year and were told that there wouldn't be any problems haven't done it yet though ?

Good luck would like to know how you get on

I've never done it on a train OP, but as there is no exit control leaving the US, you need to hand your I-94W back to the Canadian guard on re-entering Canada. They don't always ask if you want it removed, and they certainly won't remove it without your permission - it's up to you to ask them and check they've done it.

Failing that, there's an address in Kentucky you can send it to if you forget - see here for info: http://london.usembassy.gov/dhs/cbp/i94.html

I've traveled on the train from Montreal to New York, it's a few years ago but as far as I remember we had our passports checked on the train by the border officials.
