Default The Canadian Dream

Hello All,
We have recently returned from another fantastic holiday in Canada (Jasper, Alberta), and after much consideration we have decided to pursue the dream of moving permanently to Canada.
A bit about us..... both my wife and I are 44.( yes I'm aware this is going to go against us points wise ) I am an IT Infrastructure Project Manager with 8 years experience, but have been in the IT industry for 18 years with a technical background, and hold a Prince2 qualification.
My wife works in Finance as a Senior Accounts Payable Analyst with 18 years experience.
We have 2 children (age 11 & 6).
Our preference is the West (BC, Alberta, Saskatchewan), but at this stage we are open to any offers in Canada.
Our points on the FSW currently stand at 63, but we are looking at improving the scoring on education and (if possible) employment. I work for a Canadian company based in the UK so I am exploring the route of an internal transfer but unfortunately I am experiencing a lot of internal red tape at the moment.
We have just gone through the Comprehensive Ranking System, but because we don't have any arranged employment, nor either of us hold a degree, we scored fairly low, but am I right saying we would only need this at a later stage when applying for PR?
Any help, advice, guidance or tips would be greatly appreciated
Many thanks!

To emigrate under the Federal Skilled Worker programme you need to check if you’re eligible first using this tool:

http://onlineservices-servicesenligne.cic.gc.ca/eapp/eapp.do

For info, the lowest number of points to ever have received an Invitation to Apply under that programme is 413.

Hello and welcome to BE!

I would suggest looking at any Provincial programs for immigration - you can find links to them here: https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration....html#websites - it does sound as if you will need a job offer to increase your points and give you a chance at being invited from the pool for EE. https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration...try/works.html If you are open to moving to a different Province in order to get PR, you might want to look at the Atlantic Provinces Pilot project. https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration...ion-pilot.html

There was a post in our jobs section that may be of interest - http://britishexpats.com/forum/canad...ancies-899238/ if you go to the company page link, there are also jobs in Alberta in IT.

Regarding the potential for an Intra Company Transfer, do be aware that you have to have specialised knowledge or else be a senior manager to qualify (do ask questions if that is a possibility as we've a few members who have emigrated under that route!) https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration...ansferees.html

Best of luck!

By the far the easiest route in your case, if you qualify, but I feel your pain in relation to the red tape.

I found the best way was to go on holiday to Canada and whilst there come into the office here and Vancouver and press the flesh. This sped things up substantially for me on the business front. Still took about 8 months all in but most of that was waiting for the job offer to be finalized in Canada.

I came on specialized knowledge category.

It's a really good option, as long as you qualify under one of the three ICT categories. More info here - Intra-Company Transfer-Canada : British Expat Wiki

If so, then that would be worth pursuing.

Good luck.
