I ws sent to secondary yesterday at the Peace Arch on my way to Seattle. They wanted to establish I wasn't coming here to work. Once I had clarified my position I was on my way. They're only doing their job and upholding their laws. We're the visitors after all.

Only trouble is it wasn't Customs but rather the TSA or CATSA screening agents at the airports who are totally separate from Customs.
The clue is when they say in the article they were flying from Toronto to Calgary or San Diego to Minneapolis. Last time I checked domestic flights don't clear Customs
Get to identify your badges and what they say so then you know who to rag out on.

I see it everyday at work.

OK the first US border guy asked a silly question, but just answer the guy without attitude of sarcasm. At the secondary interview the Canadian carries on being excited while the second US border guy was quite calm and normal. IMHO the Canadian guy was asking for it.

Exactly what I thought too. Just answer the questions and don't be a dick about it.

Yeah, I gave up before the end. I hope his wife had a few choice things to say to him. What a dick! A wise man once told me - 'when you're in a hole, stop digging!'

Nope. He was arrested for obstruction of justice, making a threat to a federal officer and assault

The wife was also arrested for assaulting an officer.

Exactly. The first border guy detected a bit of attitude and decided to teach them a lesson. I wonder if they were ever able to return to the US. Getting arrested for assaulting a federal law enforcement officer tends to put you on the radar!
