Is marriage not an option? Sorry for the personal question but that's going to be your quickest easier route back to Canada.

Or could your boyf move to the UK instead?

As soon as you've got PR (takes approx 2-4 months) you can work, you'd be a Permanent Resident with almost all the rights of a citizen. And you can get married wherever you like, but I believe your partner would need a special visa to get married in the UK.

I think you would be waiting waaaaay longer for all the paperwork involved with trying to get a temp work visa, go to Canada, get married then come and ask on here about spousal sponsorship.

All you bf needs to do is be approved and have earned enough in the last 12 months to prove he can support you. (He also cannot have defaulted on previous child support payments etc) Have a look on the WIKI / CIC website for the exact rules.

Good luck x

You can certainly go out there now, but I wouldn't bother with the work permit thing. By the time you've found a job offer from an employer prepared to go through the paperwork/hassle/wait for you (rare unless you have specialist skills in the current economic climate), then they've got the LMO (for which they have to prove that they've advertised the job across Canada and been unable to find a Canadian willing, or able, to do the job) which can take several months, you're looking at at least six months anyway. There are people on the forum who have been trying to get a TWP for years without success, PR will be much quicker and easier anyway.

So get over there, marry him (I'll get my hat ), and apply for PR via an outland application - as MMC said, details in the Wiki so get reading.

Good luck.
